Studio Life

The blog is back again after a week's break when I had a short trip to Scarborough last weekend. It's going to be a bit of a short one as the artists, artisans and performers have been gearing up for Christmas which has meant it has been very busy but a lot of the work I can't show here until the New Year. However Just Imagine UK have been crazy busy and more about their exploits below.

On a personal level I did manage to get some sketching done in Scarborough and a I also did a couple of pieces on my return. My final piece is an iPad portrait from the recent Joker film, an excellent watch!

Catherine Lansdale....has been finishing her art classes at Hobbycraft in Bolton, this culminated with a slap up Christmas dinner at a local hostelry. She starts again in the New Year after a well earned break. Watch out for her schedule of courses running at the Haworth during 2020. I have posted the dates again up until Summer. Get in quick as these are bound to book up quickly after Christmas.

Simply contact Catherine on her social media streams or pop into the Studios to book a place for yuourself or a friend. It's a good time to take up a new hobby!

Leo Crabtree... Has been producing Santa hat owls ,like they are going out of fashion....well actually they will be by the middle of the week! He has been spending lots of time in the Studios working hard on his Christmas content, especially his cards which are spectacular this year. Leo has also been working on a couple of commission pieces and has picked up a handful more to keep him busy in the New Year. No rest for the wicked Leo!

Just Imagine UK...... If you are in any doubt as to whether you like Christmas or not, you need to spend December at the Studios. Its has been a magical time watching Danielle, Sam and their amazing team put together a mind boggling Christmas schedule. Their energy and enthusiasm has seen them through, with their 5.00am starts, their long makeup sessions and numerous costume changes not to mention all the miles they have done to reach the venues.

During December I have seen them deliver the best Father Christmas experiences ever. The funniest Grinch and Cindy Lou performances. They have put on spectacular shows at Blackburn, Darwen and Accrington Light turn on events. There have been dozens of elf visits, private parties, children's nurseries, adult care homes, a Narnia pantomime and a lovely visit to entertain the children and staff at Alder Hey Children's hospital in Liverpool.

Their Greatest Showman spectacular was performed to over 400 at the Earnst and Young Christmas party at the Principal in Manchester. This was one of 33 events that week!

It's not just about the children at JIUK. Their Great Gatsby event drew a large adult crowd to Accrington Town Hall to top off the mad week

It is hard to convey the work done this month but here are a few images from their mad December.

Long may it continue...I've said it before...There's only one Just Imagine UK!!

The Haworth Community Corridor.. The wider Haworth Art Gallery Artists' Network members get to display their work in the Community Corridor on the first floor of the Art Gallery. The current artist mounting her exhibition is local artist Pamela Johnson who works out of Valley Artists' Studios in Waterfoot. Her work will be displayed until February and is well worth a visit whilst you are on your tour of the Gallery. I plan to feature these exhibitions in future posts as this is sometimes a missed opportunity for the visitor.

You can also see the work of Decorum and Friends who's 'Retracing Steps' is the main exhibition until the 9th February. This is '8 artists coming together to explore personal journeys that retrace intimate memories and individual narratives'.

And Finally... The artists, artisans and Performers would like to wish everyone the best Christmas ever, and a very peaceful and prosperous New Year. Thank you for all your support, your purchases, commissions and bookings that help our artistic community to grow a pace.

The Haworth Art Gallery is closed now until the 11th of January....but don't worry if you have Christmas lunch booked, the Gallery Kitchen are still open to serve you! Their opening hours are shown below as well.

The Artists' Studios however don't close the same hours, these paintings won't paint themselves you know! so if you are passing or walking the dog, please pop in and say hello. It will be nice to see a different face!
